Due to the passing of the American Taxpayer Relief Act, tax forms have been revised. HPL has forms available for photcopying. All forms necessary for people eligible to file beginning on January 30, 2013 have been updated and are available on the IRS website.
The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Programs offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify. Search for a location near you on the IRS' Free Tax Help page.
The AARP Tax-Aide program offers free one-on-one counseling and assistance with preparing basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and other standard schedules. Houston Public Library in partnership with AARP offers free income tax return assistance during February through April at various locations.
