Texas Teacher Workshop 2018
The Heritage Society (THS) and the Houston Public Library's Houston Metropolitan Research Center (HMRC) have joined forces to host a professional development workshop for teachers of Texas history. This year, educators will hear presentations by Texas historians on topics that fit within the second semester of 7th grade Texas history from the Mexican War to Civil Rights. Also included are hands-on strategy and resource sessions that are TEKS aligned. Teachers will receive lesson plans and copies of demonstrated resources.

HPL is always ready to help! Teachers can contact area local library to schedule a visit with students and explore all of the resources available for classroom assignments, homework help and tutoring.
Can’t get to the library? No problem. Schedule for a librarian to come visit you at your school. You can even book for one of our Mobile Express Bus to visit and let your students experience hands-on with library resources at your school’s front door.
You may also schedule a field trip to our Central Library in downtown Houston!
