The Houston Public Library and KHOU Channel 11 formed a public/private media partnership to support the broadcast of educational programming targeting households of children, Kindergarten to 3rd Grade; called Liftoff to Learning.

In response to the digital divide in Houston and addressing the shift to online and distance learning due to COVID-19, this first-of-its-kind partnership supports access for households without a computer or Internet and addresses the academic disruption of schooling as a result of the pandemic.

This collaboration also supports the opportunity for community members to partner up in support of literacy advancement, as well as support citywide efforts to address Houston's digital inequities and the City's response to COVID-19.

Students, their families, and educators will also benefit from a robust video catalog of library resources, services, and programs available for free to everyone.

You can catch this 5-minute segment on Great Day Houston from 9:52 to 9:57 AM Monday through Thursday!
