You have the Power!
Has the Houston Public Library made a difference in your life? Your donation has the power to continue those essential programs in the Houston community. Visit Houston Public Library Foundation's website (HPLF) to learn more about their mission and role with the Library.
HPLF provides critical financial support for the Library. Philanthropy funds 100% of the programs, resources, and services available to millions of adults, children, and youth from diverse racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds. The City of Houston budget does not provide programmatic funding. That’s why your support is vital.
As an individual, you can donate a one-time gift or donate a monthly or quarterly amount online. Whatever fits your budget will be greatly appreciated and put to good use. Your credit card information is safe-guarded through a secure online processing system. Find out more about visiting HPLF's Give Now webpage.

Honor or memorialize a loved one by sending a gift in their name to the Houston Public Library Foundation. You will receive a charitable receipt, and the honoree will receive a note sharing that you made a gift in their honor. For a memorial donation, the loved one’s family will receive a note of your thoughtfulness.
Corporations & Foundations
HPLF requests funding for specific purposes:
- Youth Services
- Job Readiness
- Digital Inclusion
- Preserving the Past through Special Collections
- Library Plaza Reconstruction Campaign
If your corporation or family foundation supports these needs, please help our cause!
Corporate Matching Programs
Many local employers will match their employee’s charitable donation or make a donation based upon volunteer involvement hours. Those companies normally provide a form on their intranet site or have the information available in the HR office.
Shop for a Cause
Shopping programs are incredibly easy and make a difference. You pay the same great price, and the retailer sends a percentage of their profit to us! Select Houston Public Library Foundation or Friends of HPL as your preferred charity. We are actually the same organization. Supported sites include:
- Amazon Smile (It's just like regular Amazon!)
- iGive.com (You may select from hundreds of online retailers)
- Kroger (Select organization #81104)
Friends' Volunteer Opportunities and Book Sales
Friends of the Houston Public Library coordinates volunteer activities at the Friends’ warehouse and at the public book sales. For more information, visit Friends’ website. If you would like to donate in-kind services or other items, please contact HPL Foundation.
We recommend that if you have a large donation of books and other items for book sales, please take them to the Friend's warehouse instead of an HPL location.
