In addition to writing books for kids, he's also designed video games.
On becoming a writer: "I was going to be a scientist of some sort. But I fell in love at first sip...with philosophy. And, once you get a philosophy degree, you either have to become a lawyer, a professor, a waiter, a stand-up comic, or a writer."
As a kid, he read a lot of science fiction, fantasy and horror comics like "Creepy" and "Eerie".
"The world is far too serious a place, especially for kids. Some people act as if laughter doesn't belong in education. That's dead wrong. Kids need to explore, experiment, create, and have fun."
He's from New Jersey and currently lives in Pennsylvania.
